There is no I in team: A message from our CEO
The former US president Benjamin Franklin once observed that there are two things that are certain in life, death and taxation. Another truism is that business is cyclical and it’s also important to identify and focus on your core competencies, namely the things that you and or your organisation are good at. We are not too proud to admit that 2018 we lost sight of our core competences investing both our energy and our resources in business areas that we had little experience in or were not particularly good at, with less than satisfactory results.
Fortunately, the one thing we did not lose sight of was the bottom line. Understanding that these `investments` we had made would never achieve the results we desired from them, we went to war. Namely closing unprofitable business interests down and restructuring the group as a whole. This was hard, very hard but by Q2 of 2019, we are leaner, more profitable and more focused on growing our clients’ businesses in key markets and the group is hiring again. I am extremely grateful to my team at Eurasia for one the one hand, helping me see the error of, in many instances my decisions and on the other, for sticking with the company through the good times and the bad. There is no I in team. Here’s to a brighter and more focused 2019.
